The Big Bend of Florida Is Now Under A Hurricane Watch

As Irma makes landfall near Camaguey in Cuba as a razor sharp buzz-saw Category 5 hurricane, the track for Florida continues to shift ever so westward. Even with the new track, the Florida Keys are still under the gun with a possible Category 5 hurricane still crossing overhead before continuing it's northward track. As of the this latest advisory, there is slightly better news for the east coast of South Florida even though with a storm of this magnitude they will still see torrential rainfall and strong winds along with tornadoes out of Irma if this trend holds. However, the west coast of Florida is not under more threat if this trend continues. The Big Bend of FL is also under a Hurricane Watch. Everyone in the Big Bend needs to really be paying close attention to watch happens in the next 24-36 hours with Irma. With this new track Tallahassee and surrounding areas could possibly be experiencing strong tropical storm to hurricane force winds. Weakening is possible the more north as it would run into some wind shear.

Latest advisory is indicating we could be seeing 60-70% chance of experiencing tropical-storm-force winds in and around Leon County. Tomorrow will probably be the best full day to finish hurricane prep in the panhandle.
